These little squirrels were part of a squirrel photo gallery found on the National Geographic website.
This is the chubbiest flying squirrel I’ve ever seen!!! Apparently, certain types of flying squirrels can make good pets. oooooo i want one! ><

A flying squirrel munches a meal on terra firma. These squirrels actually glide rather than fly, using the two long flaps of skin on their sides to catch the wind.

Ground squirrels live in underground nests often connected by tunnels. Like prairie dogs, ground squirrels take turns on sentry duty, warning the others of any danger.

This little squirrel looks more like one of his chipmunk cousins.
Golden-mantled ground squirrels live in underground burrows, where they store their food. Like chipmunks, they have cheek pouches to carry their food.

National Geographic has a really neat photo gallery of translucent creatures up on their website. (Check it out here!) While all of the photos were really cool, this is the only little guy who is also cute!!! In the words of Dory, I shall call him Squishy and he shall be mine and he shall be my Squishy!

A photographer’s strobe gives a violet sheen to this translucent juvenile roundbelly cowfish off the coast of Kona, Hawaii. Also known as the transparent boxfish, the roundbelly cowfish has two short horns in front of its eyes.

kissy kissy! do fawns have wet noses like puppies???

A pair of fawns nuzzle in this photo taken Tuesday June 3, 2008. Isabella County Sheriff’s Sgt. Dale Heugel, not pictured, is caring for the two fawns (they are not related animals) at his Lincoln Township, Mich., home, west of Shepherd, until they are ready to return to the wild. They were mistakenly “rescued” by people who thought they were left alone and that the mother might have been killed. Heugel wants people to leave fawns alone if they stumble upon them in the woods or tall grass in the spring. He said they are born without a scent so predators can’t find them. The mother deer watch their fawns from a distance, so people might mistakenly think the babies are abandoned.
